You might look like things are “fine” from the outside — but inside, something feels off.

Maybe you and your partner keep having the same argument over and over again… or you’ve stopped arguing altogether and just feel distant.

Maybe you’re constantly managing anxiety, stress, or overwhelm — trying to hold everything together, but feeling exhausted underneath it all.

Or maybe you’re living with Type 1 Diabetes, and the emotional weight of it feels invisible to everyone else.

If any of this feels familiar, you’re not alone — and you don’t have to keep navigating it this way.

How I Help

My work is centered around helping people feel deeply understood, emotionally safe, and no longer stuck in the patterns that are keeping them disconnected — from their partner, from others, or from themselves.

I specialize in working with:

Couples who feel disconnected but want to find their way back to each other.  You love each other — but you keep getting stuck in painful patterns of conflict, distance, or misunderstanding.

Individuals struggling with anxiety, trauma, overwhelm, or feeling stuck You may be high-functioning on the outside, but internally it feels like too much.

People navigating the emotional side of living with Type 1 Diabetes.  As someone who has lived with T1D since the age of 2, I understand the constant mental and emotional load that comes with it — in a way that goes beyond textbook knowledge.

Outcomes- What Changes in Therapy

Over time, many clients begin to:

Feel closer and more emotionally connected in their relationship.
Stop having the same repetitive arguments
Communicate without escalating
Feel calmer internally
Feel less shame around food and more confident in their body
Stop feeling alone in diabetes
Trust themselves again
Feel more emotionally safe opening up
Experience less anxiety and internal overwhelm
Feel more confident and grounded in themselves
Stop feeling alone in their struggles
Feel secure in their relationship.

This kind of change doesn’t just help in the moment — it shifts how you experience your life and your relationships long-term.

Hi, I’m Shoshana

I know how painful it can feel when relationships become distant, anxiety takes over, or life feels emotionally overwhelming.

My work is deeply rooted in helping people feel understood, emotionally safe, and no longer alone in what they’re carrying.

This isn’t just professional for me — it’s something I care deeply about.

Why Couples Get Stuck

Most couples don’t struggle because they don’t care about each other; they struggle because they get caught in a cycle.

One of you reaches out, the other pulls away.  One of you feels unheard, the other feels criticized.  And over time, the distance grows.

Underneath these patterns is something deeper — a need to feel safe, wanted, and emotionally connected.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) helps you understand that cycle, slow it down, and begin to reach for each other in a way that actually brings you closer.

This isn’t about learning more communication tips. It’s about changing the emotional pattern between you.

Why Clients Choose Inner Calm

Therapy with me goes beyond surface-level coping strategies.

I help you understand the deeper emotional patterns that are keeping you stuck — whether that’s in your relationship, your anxiety, or your relationship with yourself.

My approach is grounded in evidence-based models like EFT, EMDR, and IFS, while also being deeply relational and emotionally focused.

Having lived with Type 1 Diabetes for over 30 years, I bring a level of understanding to that experience that can’t be taught — only lived.

My goal is to help you not just manage — but truly feel more at peace, more connected, and more like yourself again.  I bring both professional expertise and genuine understanding into the therapy room.

What Therapy With Me Feels Like

Therapy with me isn’t about just talking in circles or getting surface-level advice.

We slow things down and begin to understand what’s really happening underneath —the emotions, patterns, and experiences that are shaping how you feel and respond.

For couples, this means identifying the cycle you get stuck in and learning how to reach each other in a different way.

For individuals, it means making sense of what’s been weighing on you and finding a way forward that actually feels relieving — not just manageable.

Over time, things begin to shift. You feel more clarity, more connection, and less stuck.

Shoshana is amazing! She helped us identify and break our conflict patterns by dissecting it in our sessions. Her method is very deliberate and based on specific theories of connection and attachment.

Shoshana has been instrumental in helping me grow in areas that I have avoided for years. As a psychotherapist myself, she has adapted and shown up in all of the ways that I have needed over the past few years. She is kind, smart and equipped. Thank you Shoshana! Highly recommend!

Shoshana is the most open and accommodating therapist I've ever had. I have had a few therapists over the last couple of years. She made me feel extremely comfortable as sometimes therapy can be overwhelming. She helped me prioritize what I wanted to work on so that I was less overwhelmed with the issues I was experiencing. I feel like she really listened to me and understood me without ever being condescending. She worked with me on developing strategies for managing my anxiety, among other things, and then helped me learn to recognize when to use them and how to implement them in the moment. I felt very comfortable with her plan to help me and it is working! I would recommend her to anyone.

I Have been working with Shoshana Ort for just over a year. She is not only extremely knowledgeable, but kind and compassionate. I always feel heard and she has given me excellent feedback, helping me to see and understand myself differently and positively. Having experienced childhood trauma that has affected me emotionally my entire life, I have had self-esteem, self love issues which has had an adverse effect on me. Seeing myself positively, learning new skills, and continued therapy has given me a better life, one that will continue on a peaceful path

Shoshana met me as a client in a very difficult time in my life and has completely turned my life around. Shoshana listens without judgment and provides the tools that work for YOU. My impossibles started to become possible with Shoshana as my therapist.

My wife and I worked with Shoshana for over a year and it was truly a life changing experience. We were ultimately happy in our relationship, but knew that there were some things we needed to work on and times throughout the last couple of years when we were feeling disconnected.
The first breakthrough was when Shoshana was able to help us understand our "couples dance" as she calls it. She was able to really investigate a situation, which could be an argument or point of contention, and get us to discover the deeper emotions that we often feel during those situations. For me, it was often a feeling of "being a failure" or "not being enough", which could manifest as defensiveness during an argument. She helped us identify what we need to hear from each other when those deeper insecurities and fears are triggered. Since our initial sessions, I have noticed that we are now able to "slow down time" during arguments. We can recognize our cycle as it happens and successfully break it.
Shoshana possesses a remarkable balance of a calming presence and the ability to challenge one to dig deeper and unpack complex emotions. She is very perceptive and often picks up on underlying feelings or those just beginning to surface. Additionally, she has the ability to take a variety of your thoughts and feelings and summarize them to you, to make sure she is understanding exactly what you are feeling.

Shoshana is a phenomenal therapist and I strongly recommend her to anyone! My partner and I sought her out for couples therapy because she uses EFT and we could not have lucked out more with finding her in particular. She strikes the perfect balance of being direct and challenging, while also compassionate and supporting.
My partner and I now communicate more openly, understand each other more deeply, and handle conflict in ways that bring us closer together. I've grown and addressed more in one year working with her in couples than I had in ten years of prior individual therapy. Thanks so much, Shoshana!
