Hi, I’m Shoshana Ort, LCSW — a therapist, wife, mom of four (including a set of twins!), nature lover, and believer in the power of human connection.
My journey to becoming a therapist wasn’t just about earning degrees or collecting credentials — it’s been a deeply personal path. Over the years, I’ve experienced firsthand how relationships can be both our greatest source of joy and our deepest place of pain. I’ve also learned that with the right support, even the most strained relationships can heal and grow stronger than before.
After going through my own marriage’s ups and downs, I discovered Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) — a model that transformed not only my relationship but also my approach as a therapist. Experiencing the impact of EFT in my own life inspired me to dive in fully, training extensively so I could guide other couples through the same healing process.
In my work, I help couples break free from painful cycles of disconnection, communicate in ways that truly reach each other, and rebuild trust and intimacy. I also work with individuals navigating anxiety, disordered eating, burnout, or life transitions — helping them feel grounded, seen, and empowered to move forward.
I have a special place in my heart for supporting people living with type 1 diabetes and their loved ones. I grew up with Type 1 Diabetes and saw firsthand the emotional weight that comes with managing this chronic illness. What stood out to me most was the gap in mental health support for those living with diabetes — a gap I am passionate about filling. Today, I help clients navigate the stress, burnout, and grief that can come with this diagnosis, while finding ways to reclaim joy, resilience, and a sense of control in everyday life.
My style is compassionate, non-judgmental, and collaborative. I believe therapy should feel like a safe space where you can be real — no pretense, no pressure, just an honest partnership where we explore challenges and discover new ways forward together.
Whether I’m helping a couple rediscover joy in their relationship, supporting someone through the mental health side of living with diabetes, or guiding a client toward greater self-confidence, my goal is always the same: to help people feel safe, understood, and connected — both to themselves and to the people they love.
When I’m not in the therapy room, you might find me baking, organizing, traveling to new places, creating beautiful kosher candy platters, or laughing with my family over something silly.
If you’re ready to create meaningful change in your life or your relationship, I’m here to walk that path with you.
